Flag of Armenia

Flag of Armenia

Armenia is located in Asia.

The official ISO 3166 code for Armenia is:

am

Facts about the flag:
The Armenian flag consists of three horizontal bands in orange, blue and red, and it was adopted in its present form of Armenia's highest soviet on August 24, 1990.

This was the day after the declaration of independence. The flag's proportions are 1:2, which means the flag is twice as wide as it is high.

The Armenian flag was added during the country's earlier independence of 1918-1921, and it is based on a former flag created at the Armenian Institute in Venice in 1885. There have been several discussions about the symbolization of the colors, but the most common one is that the red represents the blood that was spilled when the Armenians defended their land.

The blue color stands for heaven and orange for the country's good soil.
