The official ISO 3166 code for Thailand is:

th

Thailand's flag was adopted on September 28, 1917, having the proportions 2:3.

The flag has five stripes from the top down: red, white, blue, white and finally red again. The blue edge in the center of the flag is twice as wide as the other stripes. The flag is a kind of tricolor, which is reflected in its name.

In Thai, it is called "Thong Trairong", translated as the "tricolor flag" in English. The red color of the flag stands for life, the white stands for pure Buddhist faith and the blue color represents the royal power.

Thus, the three colors symbolize the unofficial Thai motto: "nation, religion, and king." The colors are also found in several flags of neighboring nations, such as Cambodia and Lao.
