The flag of Honduras was adopted on February 16, 1866.

The flag contains three equal horizontal bands. The band at the top and bottom is blue, and the band in the middle is white. In the middle of the white band, there are five blue, five-pointed stars, one in the center of the flag, two to the right of the center star and two to the left of it.

The five blue stars in the center of the flag represent the members of the former Central American federation. The members of this federation are known as Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and of course Honduras. Each of these countries uses their own modified version of the Central American Federation flag. The white band in the flag of Honduras represents the country's geographic position between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
