Flag of Lebanon

Flag of Lebanon

Lebanon is located in Asia.

The official ISO 3166 code for Lebanon is:

lb

Facts about the flag:
The flag of Lebanon was adopted when the country became independent on the 7th of December, 1943. The nation's various religious groups were taken into account when designing the flag. The flag is kept neutral in its religious symbolism. The tree in the center is a cedar tree, and it is a symbol of strength, holiness and eternity. The tree has been used as a symbol in Lebanon for thousands of years, and is mentioned in the Bible.

The white color stands for peace, and the red is a symbol of self-sacrifice. It also has an alternative explanation, which says that it is the symbol of the red uniforms Lebanese troops wore during World War I.
