Facts about the flag:
The flag of the Philippines has, on its left-hand side, a white triangle with three golden stars and a sun with eight rays in the center of the triangle.

Furthermore, the flag has two parts horizontally, the upper one is blue, while the lower one is red. The flag has existed for a very long time, since the 19th of May, 1898; it has been around for over a hundred years. The sun on the flag symbolizes independence.

In the 19th century, eight provinces in the country rose in revolt against Spain, for liberty, and therefore the sun has eight rays on the flag, one for each province.
