The blue color is a symbol of the sea, the green represents the land and its vegetation, and the yellow line symbolizes the sun.

The five white stars represent the largest archipelago, but also remind us of the five administrative regions of the Solomon Islands, created as a result of the country's independence. The flag was adopted on November 18th, 1977.

The merchant flag is red, with an image of the national flag in the upper left corner. The ensign is white with a red cross, which displays the national flag in the canton, just like in the merchant flag.
