Flag of Azerbaijan

Flag of Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan is located in Asia.

The official ISO 3166 code for Azerbaijan is:

az

Facts about the flag:
The Azerbaijan flag is triangular with horizontal bands in the colors green, red and blue.

It was during the Independence of 1991 that the flag was adopted and it has the proportions 1:2. In other words, the flag is twice as wide as it is high. The green field of the flag stands for Islam, the red represents the country's European influence and the red stands for the Turks in Central Asia.

In the middle of the flag, stands a white star and a crescent. This crescent is a traditional symbol of Islam found on several flags, such as the flag of Turkey. The eight pillars of the star represent the eight different Turkish language groups in the country.
