Facts, history and meaning about the flag of Bangladesh
Bangladesh is located in Asia.
The official ISO 3166 code for Bangladesh is:
The flag of Bangladesh was adopted on the 25th of January in 1972 and consists of a red circle, which is placed slightly closer to the inner frame than the outer frame, on a green background.
The red circle symbolizes the rising sun, but also the blood that was sacrificed for the nation's independence. The green color is a symbol of the lush nature of the country.
The flag is a continuation of an older version that was used during the independence war against West Pakistan (now Pakistan) in 1971 - a conflict which lasted nine months.
During this conflict, the flag had the same contours as the country in the red circle, displayed in orange. The proportions of the flag of Bangladesh are 3:5.
