Flag of Brunei

Flag of Brunei

Brunei is located in Asia.

The official ISO 3166 code for Brunei is:

bn

Facts about the flag:
The yellow color on the flag of Brunei is the symbolic color of the sultan, as well as a symbol for the monarchy of south east Asia.

The white and black diagonal bands represent the king's two most important ministers. Furthermore, the country's state weapon with a sickle (the Islamic symbol) and the insignia of the sultan, a parasol; are present in the center of the flag.

The current appearance of the flag was adopted on September 29, 1959. Between 1906-1959, it had no state weapon, no religious symbol and no seal, and prior to 1905, the flag was completely yellow. The Armed Forces use a similar flag, where the symbol in the middle is replaced by the Armed Forces emblem. A red stripe between the black and white colors has also been added.
