Flag of Croatia
Facts, history and meaning about the flag of Croatia

Croatia is located in Europe.

The official ISO 3166 code for Croatia is:

hr

The colors on the flag of Croatia are the traditional Pan-Slavic colors, but also represent the former Red Croatia with the red color, white for White Croatia and blue for Slavonia.

An image of the country's coat of arms is displayed in the center.

Throughout the years, there have been different versions of the flag, but its origins can be traced back to a tricolor used by the Kingdom of Croatia, within the Austrian Empire, in the year 1848. The colors of the flag were inspired by the colors used by Croats in the Kingdom of Croatia, the Kingdom of Slavonia and the Kingdom of Dalmatia, in their own bicolor flags.

The present design was adopted on December 21st, 1990. The flag also features the coat of arms, which has three shields that represent the three kingdoms.
