Facts about the flag:
The flag of Paraguay is different from other flags, as it does not display the same emblem on both sides. One side features the country's coat of arms, and the other side showcases the emblem of the finance ministry.

The idea originated from José de Francias, head of government between 1814 and 1842, who used it on Paraguay's previous flag. Back then, it had the coat of arms of Spain on one side, and the coat of arms of the capital Asunción on the other.

On their present flag, on the same side as the coat of arms, a text is also featured, which reads: Paz y Justicia (Peace and Justice). The flag of Paraguay was adopted on November 25th, 1842.
