Ecuador is located in South America.

The official ISO 3166 code for Ecuador is:

The state and national flag of Ecuador features an image of the country's state weapon at its center, yet the flag used by the citizens lacks this image.

The yellow color stands for the nation's natural riches and the sun, the blue is a representation of the sea and the sky, and the red is a symbol of the blood sacrificed in their fight for an independent Ecuador.

Ecuador adopted the old flag of Gran Colombia as its national flag in 1860, but in 1900, an image of the state weapon was added. The flag used by citizens looks exactly the same as the flag of Colombia. The flag of Venezuela has the same origins as the flag of Ecuador.
