Guinea-Bissau is located in Africa.

Guinea-Bissau's flag is divided into two equal parts of yellow and green, and to the far right there is a vertical red field.
In the middle of the red section, stands a five-pointed black star. The flag was adopted in 1973, the year prior to the independence from the Portuguese colonialism era.
The flag was previously used by the government party PAIGC, before it was adopted as a national flag. The flag is inspired by the flag of Ghana and, like many other African flags, it contains the traditional Pan-African colors.
Red stands for the blood sacrificed during the fight for independence, green stands for future hope, and yellow symbolizes the sun's energizing light. The star is the symbol for a united Africa.
