Flag of Iraq

Flag of Iraq

Iraq is located in Asia.

The official ISO 3166 code for Iraq is:

iq

Facts about the flag:
Iraq's flag is a tricolor with three different colors in three stripes.

It is made using the pan-Arabic colors of black, white and red. The green text in the center of the flag "Allahu Akbar" can be translated into "God is greater". The current flag of Iraq was adopted on January 22, 2008.

Today's version is based on similar flags that Iraq used as national flags in the 1900s, with the main difference being that the three well-known stars present in the white band since 1963, no longer exist.

This flag was adopted after the disintegration of the Ottoman empire and is based on the flag used during the Arabic Revolution, which also served as an inspiration to several other Arab nations, when creating their own versions of flags.
