Lesotho is located in Africa.
The official ISO 3166 code for Lesotho is:
The flag was adopted on the 4th of October, 2006, in connection with the celebration of being an independent state for 40 years. The white color stands for peace, the green represents the country's prosperity, and the blue is a symbol of what they call "pula", the rain, which is essential for all forms of life in their dry climate.
In the center of the flag, an image of a traditional headdress, Markorotlo, from the Basotho people can be seen. This headdress of straw has existed as a form of national dress since the early 1900s, but it became more popular around World War II. During the 1950s, political leaders used the hat as a marker for the association with traditional tribal and village hierarchies.
