Facts, history and meaning about the flag of Liechtenstein

Liechtenstein is located in Europe.

The official ISO 3166 code for Liechtenstein is:

li

The colors blue and red on the flag of Liechtenstein are probably derived from the uniforms that the servants wore at the Court during the 18th century. When their absolute monarchy was replaced by a constitutional monarchy on the 5th of October, 1921, a red and blue flag was adopted.

After Liechtenstein participated in the Olympic Games in 1936, their team saw that their nation's flag looked exactly the same as Haiti's flag, and next year on the 24th of June, it was decided to add a crown to the flag. The crown is a prince crown, because the country is a Principality. In 1982, a minor modification of the crown's appearance was made.
