Facts, history and meaning about the flag of Oman

Oman is located in Asia.

The official ISO 3166 code for Oman is:

om

Red has been a traditional color around the Persian Gulf for a long time. The white color symbolizes peace, and also Oman's religious message that has often had a great power on the side of the Sultan. Green is the symbol of soil fertility, but it can also be interpreted as a symbol of the Jabel al-Akhdar mountain range, situated in the northern part of the country.

Their first national flag was adopted when Muscat and Oman became one nation, and the flag was hoisted on the 17th of December, 1970. The flag then was almost the same as it is today, the only difference being the width of the white, red and green strips, which are currently of equal width. The present flag was adopted on the 25th of April, 1995.
