This is the old flag of Iran with a lion on it.
The name of Iran, back then, was Pahlavi Iran. Pahlavi Iran had its years between 1925 and 1979. From 1925 until the year 1935 the official name was the Imperial State of Persia, and from 1935 to 1979 the officiall name was the Imperial State of Iran.
After a revolution in the year 1979, and the establishment of the Islamic Republic, this led to an end of the persian monarchy. The flag of Iran changed 1979 and is still in use today.
