The triangle represents the two highest mountain peaks, Gros Piton and Petit Piton.
The black and white color of the triangle are together a symbol of African and European cultural influences. Yellow stands for the sun that shines brightly across the islands and is seen as a symbol of prosperity. The bright turquoise color represents the sky and the ocean.
The yellow and black triangles are also said to be a symbol of the two volcanic peaks of Two Pitons at Soufrière. The flag was designed by a local artist named Dunstan St. Omer. It was adopted on February 22nd, 1979.
