Facts about the flag:
Vanuatu's national flag was adopted on February 13, 1980, with the proportions 19:36. The colors of the flag are red, black and green, with two yellow stripes appearing in the center. On the left side, there is a stylized yellow wild boar tusk on a black background. The flag also contains two black lines on both sides of the yellow line. The upper field is red and the lower one is green.
Curled wild tusks are classic symbols of wealth, as the wild boar itself represents richness. You see, it can only get curled tusks if it is fed well, and since only the wealthy can afford to do so, this symbolism and the boar are linked together. The yellow border of the flag forms a Y, this represents the geographical position of the islands in relation to one another.
