Flag of Cameroon

Flag of Cameroon

Cameroon is located in Africa.

The official ISO 3166 code for Cameroon is:

cm

Facts about the flag:
The flag of Cameroon was first adopted on May 20th, 1975, using the proportions 2:3.

Similar to many other flags, it is a tricolor that consists of three stripes in the same size, but with different colors. The colors in this particular tricolor are green, red and yellow.

A yellow five-pointed star is featured in the middle of the flag, on the central red stripe. The color choice is inspired by the traditional Pan-African colors.

They are used in many other African flags, for instance, in the flag of Ghana. The color green in the Pan-African colors symbolizes hope, red symbolizes unity and yellow represents wealth. The inspiration behind the three vertical stripes is the French Tricolor, which also serves as inspiration for many other flags.
