Flag of Kuwait

Flag of Kuwait

Kuwait is located in Asia.

The official ISO 3166 code for Kuwait is:

kw

Facts about the flag:
The three diagonal bands on the flag of Kuwait feature the Pan-Arabic colors. This can be viewed as a sign of their relationship with the rest of the Arab world, although the colors also have their own symbolism for the country. The green represents the fertile soil, the white stands for purity, and the red represents the enemy's blood, shed in their defeat, which is symbolized by the black color.

The flag was first hoisted on the 24th of November, 1961, but it was actually adopted on the 7th of September of the same year. Previous flags of Kuwait have been very different, all of them have featured a full red background with the name of the country written in Arabic, two of the flags also displayed an image of a crescent with a star.
